Good Evening,

I wrote this blog out last last but I guess I forgot to upload it. Anyhoo, yesterday I spent my entire day in the library. My 15-20 page capstone paper turned into a 23 page paper (when I added work cited and pictures of course)! I feel so accomplished that I finished it. It was due at the end of the day, but I made a goal for myself to finish it by lunch so I could have the afternoon free. I made it! 

I made sure I took plenty of mental breaks and laugh with Emily, Ayla, and Olivia. They are great motivators (and distractors!).

I worked hard to revise and edit my writing with Heidi in the library, and once that was complete, I felt free to go to lunch and practice. 


I am one step closer to finishing my capstone! Yay!

Weekly Reflection

Looking back at my first week of senior project, I am feeling more than accomplished. Regarding my capstone, this was the busiest week, the hard part is over. My fellow concentration girls and I (Olivia, Ayla, Emily) worked every single day with one another in the library. I made an effort to go to breakfast and park myself in the library by 9am every day. My paper requirement was a minimum of 15 pages, I exceeded 23. Each day, I set goals for myself, and had lots of appointments with various "mentors" for help on my writing and idea formulation.  This kept me motivated. My paper, on Hurricane Katrina, is something I am passionate about, and found endless interest and way too much research on. I am proud of my perseverance to continue working each day, even when I was so mentally exhausted. I have never written a paper this large and extensive.  Heyyo, Today is Tuesday May 11, yet another productive day of my concentration. I spent my morning in the library with my hardworking friends, Olivia, Ayla, and Emily, typing away at our papers. Today I spent a lot of my time just reorganizing my paragraphs and finalizing my research. To make my life easier, I decided to split my 15 page paper into thirds. Therefore, I have about 2/3 of my paper done! Wahoo! In the afternoon, I took breaks by walking around campus and eating a nutritional lunch. After lunch, I returned to the library conference room and grinded out two more hours of focus on my document. I was relieved to get a break and head to tennis practice at 3pm.  Good day to be a senior!  KP

Dearest reader, Today, I started my Wednesday with an iced coffee from the dining hall. I went to breakfast so I would be motivated to start my day. I had a meeting with my mentor Tom to go over my capstone paper. We worked hard to reconfigure parapgraphs and organize the work I already have. He had to run to a class, but I remained in the library for the rest of the afternoon to grind out the remaining work. I was glad to have a break to head up to the tennis courts for practice. It was super nice out today (and so freeing without masks!). Since it was so warm and sunny, Mel took us to Elbow Pond to swim and cool off!  Later tonight I am going to work on my annotated bibliography. Can't wait to get these pieces out of the way.  KP
